⭐Part III: The Best Version of Me as an English Teacher
Compose a three-paragraph essay. In the first paragraph, based on the information you collected in Part II and your memories of her/his classes, describe the teacher you talk to. In the second paragraph, offer insights into the descriptions presented in the first paragraph. Think about these questions: What is particularly meaningful for you? What is particularly inspiring for you? What is particularly surprising for you? In the third paragraph, describe a typical day of yours as the dream teacher you want to become. Think about these questions: What do you do? What do you know? How do you feel?
黃冠馨老師, Lucy, is a diligent and caring teacher who owns lot of experience. She became a teacher in the era with many challenges. But she never gave up; instead, she transferred those obstacles into the nutrient of being a better teacher. When she was my homeroom teacher, she treated us like her sons and daughters. She listened to our worries and accompanied us to face those difficult times. As a student at that time, I could feel the care, love and expectation from her.
During the talk, the most meaningful part is her suggestions. She let me know that to become a teacher, we can not only teach knowledge, but also take care of the students in every aspect. In the real classroom, students have tons of problems every day. How a good teacher deals with them is what we should learn. Also, never forget to enjoy our lives. As for the inspiring part, her experience in her early stage of career gave me a new imagination of my future. I kept thinking what should I do first or how should I schedule my future, and didn't know what to do. But her experience inspired me that I could do whatever I want as long as I have passion and time management. Lastly, the surprising part, definitely, when she talked about the parent who shouted at her and the student who passed away because of the car accident, I was shocked. Those are serious and difficult issues that a teacher needs to face in his/her career life. Also, those are the life lessons I should learn in the future.
One day, if I become a teacher, I hope my day will be like the following description. In the morning, I arrived at the school early and prepared myself to say “hello” to each student who walked into the classroom. We can do something meaningful together, like reading extracurricular books, watching inspiring videos, or developing other interests. Then, time for my English class. I hope I can use game-based and more different materials to teach in order to trigger students’ interest. In my opinion, students’ motivation is really important. If they are interested in one of the subjects, they can even learn well themselves. There are tons of materials online. So, I think teachers’ job is to trigger students’ motivation. When it comes to the break time or after school, students may have some questions to ask me. So, I need to reserve some time for them. Above all, this is what my typical day as a teacher is like.
